A Little More Than Everything LP
Thoughtless Music
May 2011

One of Toronto's most beloved underground producers and live acts, Arthur Oskan's deep and lush yet essential techno sound is a direct evolution of his love for Detroit and many cold winters spent locked in his studio. Performing live with analog gear for over a decade, his exhilarating sets are a revelatory fusion of sizzling machine grooves and evocative synthetic melodies. Totaling ten tracks, Oskan's debut full-length is a distinctive distillation of his uniquely refined take on soulful analog techno. Emerging with the dark, nebulous tones of 'Sentimental' – featuring Jesse Somfay on guitar – and the haunting 'Blood From A Stone', the album builds slowly into the hypnotic analog throb and iconic chords of lead single 'Fat Mobile'. 'Play Keep Away' renders a heads-down late night workout, while the propulsive synths of 'Tracksuit' pull forward with nimble yet forceful melodic interplay. 'Use No Good' captures the pulse of an early morning dance floor transfixed, with abstract chimes gently shimmering atop; 'Morning Calling' invokes the intensity of an all-out warehouse techno jam, wobbly analog bass twisting and churning through vastness in unison with paranoid percolations. The final three tracks see Arthur's melodic tendencies risen to the fore, with the anthemic euphoria of 'Pensive's subtly shifting synth lines delivering on a dreamlike promise of forgotten memories redeemed. 'Two Seasons' merges 808 percussion and synth bass stabs with classic strings, while 'Moodswings' highlights the full breadth of Oskan's talents, combining irresistibly bouncing low end, gliding pads and well-honed synth stabs for an elegant closing statement. 'A Little More Than Everything', Oskan's debut album overflows with the results of unwavering dedication to his craft.

Fat Mobile EP w/Funk D'Void and Noah Pred Remixes
Thoughtless Music
April 2011

Arthur Oskan unleashes the debut single from his upcoming Thoughtless full-length, ‘A Little More Than Everything’, with our first-ever vinyl release: TLV049. Arthur wastes no time setting the tone with throbbing analog bass, paving the way for an iconic chord line that carries the title track to the outer limits of future Detroit techno. UK legend Funk D’Void offers his own variant of the classic chord line in a chunky, drum-propelled retake that offers a rare combination of fuel efficiency and maximum power for late night club systems. Label manager Noah Pred presents a condensed edit as a digital-only bonus, largely respecting the nature of the original while providing an alternate arrangement that minimizes the breakdown for a more streamlined approach. Finally, Arthur’s B-side is a 12” edit of ‘Two Seasons’ – one of the deeper cuts from the upcoming album – where 808 percussion and synth bass stabs merge with euphoric strings to make a perfect statement for the end of a long night out. A monumental release in many ways for Thoughtless, ‘Fat Mobile’ points towards the future.

Microworld - Time Before Techno (Arthur Oskan Remix)
aDepth Audio
September 2010

Australian producer Philip McGarva aka Microworld is well known for his releases on Transmat and Styrax, both of which instantly became sought-after techno classics. Dutch label aDepth audio is proud to present Microworld's new Time Before Techno EP, with the title track another classic in the making. Microworld's signature is clearly evident throughout – the slow smooth build-up, with every new sound revealing extra dimensions within the music. Definitely an after hours track that will go straight to your soul. The second track Ism is a minimal but effective rhythm, a driving bassline, a catchy synthesizer and vocal sample that will stick in your head. Canadian producer Arthur Oskan chose to remix Ism and rebuild it into a pulsating 9 minute club track overflowing with warm synthesizers.

Eggshells EP
Thoughtless Music
April 2010

After numerous remixes and compilation appearances for Thoughtless - both under his own name and his Myers Briggs guise - Arthur Oskan brings his A-game on this first full EP for the label. Equal parts Detroit, Chicago and Berlin, "Eggshells" and "Tongue Tied" are prime examples of late night tech-house sophistication with a focus on stripped-down, effective arrangements. Minimal in aesthetic, as opposed to genre, what makes the pair so special is what Oskan chooses to leave out; every extraneous element becomes a tickle of musical discourse that evokes a fleeting hint of mystery in the hands of his craftsmanship. Lucas Rodenbush (of E.B.E. fame) translates the centerpiece synth melody into a language of pure bleeps with his high-pressure interpretation of "Eggshells", while Torontonian Jamie Kidd's rolling sub-bass, polyrhythmic shuffle and expansive reverberance only add to the hypnotizing power of his tracky deep house rework. Finally, rising Toronto dubstep champion XI accents the techier elements of the original before rinsing them out under a heavy stream of sweaty saw-tooth bass. From start to finish, "Eggshells" conjures visions of dancefloors in various states of all-too-willing abandon....

Basic Principles EP
Night Drive Music
April 2010

Thanks yet again for another quality release, Nightdrive is fast turning in to one of my favourite deep labels at the moment. What can i say about this EP from Arthur Oskan, its brilliant! I have been keeping an ear out for something new from Arthur and im glad this fell in to my lap. I liked what he was doing for Matrix and Beretta, it was a little raw in sound but this EP on Nightdrive is fresh, clean and stellar. I love all 3 tracks. Familiar Faces: Love the levels of all the sounds, the drums are so clean and defined in the mix and really drive the track alot stronger and his Toronto/Detroit influence is very evident with the beautiful chord stabs and floating pads. WIl play this anytime. Instinct: A great deep house track again with his familiar sounds and influences, the production and programming is great, very subtle changes that keep you interested in the track all the way through, love the almost Caribbean sounding stab hits throughout.

Three Night Stand: My favourite on the EP. Love the stripped back essence of the track, allowing all the sounds to be exposed to the dancefloor. The fat electro bass bassline combined with pads and the subtle delay effects really set it off.willing abandon... Lance Harrison
